Getting Ready for World Book Day

    Posted on: 04/03/2019

I thought you may like to know about some of the exciting things your child will be involved in during World Book Week.

The theme for this year’s World Book Day is ‘Sharing a story’. We are very fortunate to have a Story Teller visiting our school on Tuesday 5th March and they will be kicking off World Book week visiting the different classes and sharing stories.

On the 7th March, World Book Day, the children will have many opportunities to share books and stories in a variety of different ways. One example of a fun activity they will be undertaking is a ’World Book Day Quiz’. Which class will be victorious? Which class is the most knowledgeable when it comes to books/stories? We will find out

The day will end with everybody sharing stories in the most unusual and imaginative places. The teachers will also be handing out book tokens and stickers for every child. Your child will have information about where they will be able to use their book token and the types of books they can buy with it.

Also, at the end of the day in KS2 playground (weather permitting) there will be a book swap. So please, if you can, come along when you pick up your child/children and bring a book to swap. There will be books available for both children and adults.

Don’t forget for World Book Day, the children can dress as their favourite adventurer or as a character from their favourite adventure story.

EYFS: Jungle adventure, KS1: Pirate Adventure, YR3/4: Magical Adventure and, finally, YR5/6: Real life adventurers.

And, of course, there will be prizes for the best costumes
