Posted on: 17/06/2022

This week hass been our third and final RE week of the year with a number of fantastic visitors and trips once again.

Year 5 have been learning about the Christian festival of Pentecost. We had two visitors come into school to teach us about the story and help us act it out. The story told us that Christians believe that the Holy Spirit lives in them and God is always with them.We recognised that the Christian values of kindness, love and patience are common across all religions and help us to live in a safe, supportive community. Thank you to the fabulous visitors from Narborough Road Pentecostal Church we really enjoyed working with you!

Year 2 visited the Mosque on Wednesday 15th June, we had a lovely morning the Iman was very welcoming, and he explained about the 5 pillars of Islam. We were aloud to ask lots of question after his talk. The Iman showed us around the Mosque. It was huge! The main hall holds 1050 people. During special Islamic festivals people sleep at the Mosque. He talked about how Muslims prepare themselves for prayer and took us to the area where they washed themselves. It was a great trip specially to learnt about different cultures and religions.

Year 3 had a visit from Ramesh who is part of the Leicester Buddhist community. He spoke about the values of Buddhist including the four sights and why Buddhists follow the teachings of Buddha.

Year 6 had an insightful visit to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. The children were fantastic role models!
