Will you read me a story?

    Posted on: 25/03/2021

We've had great fun in Reception since returning to school with our topic of 'Will you read me a story?' The children have been learning to retell stories from memory through oral rehearsal and role playing lots of traditional stories including Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.

This week to finish our topic, we pretended to be Little Red Riding Hood and went to visit our forest area. On arrival, the children remembered the last time they were there and began to spontaneously chant, "We're going on a Big Bad Wolf hunt. We're going to catch a scary one" as they walked through the long grass. We all had lots of fun and the children particularly enjoyed asking a rather familiar looking Big Bad Wolf, "Oh Granny, what big teeth you have..."

Following this, the children returned to class and excitedly made some fantastic independent wolf posters.
