World Book Day 2023

Posted on: 03/03/2023

As part of our World Book Day celebration on Thursday 2nd March, everyone at Woodstock was invited to dress as their favourite book character. As you can see in the pictures, children and adults came into school wearing fantastic costumes. From Diary of a Wimpy kid to classics such as Mary Poppins, there were plenty of iconic book characters wandering around Woodstock!

Throughout the day, children experienced a range of reading activities including: Our favourite book, story spoons; drama activities to bring the story alive, author talks (online); share a story with a friend, teachers favourite books and plenty more! It was amazing to see our children sharing their love of reading and having plenty of discussion about their favourite books!

KS1 children had an author talk with the focus being 'How to be funny' while KS2 children were delighted to join Michael Morpurgo for an online event listening to his inspiration for War Horse.

In the afternoon, children were given a list of books to choose from before voting for the book that they would like to hear. Teachers read one of their favourite books and discussed with children from all year groups.

Take a look at some of the activities and outfits in the photo album. Thank you to our children and families for the enthusiasm shown for World Book Day. It truly was a day to remember.
