School Governors

The Local Governing Body (LGB) is made up of volunteers who commit their time to work alongside the leadership team of the school to play an important part in raising school standards.

The LGB has a strong focus on three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the principal to account for the educational performance of the academy and its pupils; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the academy and making sure its money is well spent.

The LGB meets regularly to meet these functions and other responsibilities. The governors also visit the school to ensure they understand what is happening and to monitor and evaluate the impact of actions. Governors can be contacted through the school.

I have been a teacher for fifteen years across Leicester City, ten of those here at Woodstock. My background is in psychology and I started my career in education as a teaching assistant. I have a particular interest in children’s literature and the teaching of writing. I have also worked for the Local Authority across Leicester City for 7 years as a writing moderator for Year 6 writing assessment.

It has been a pleasure to serve the community here at Woodstock and watch as the school continues to flourish and grow.  I have had the privilege of working with many fantastic colleagues, but most importantly some of the most amazing children!
Away from school, three things dominate my life: family, friends and travelling.

I became Assistant Principal at Babington Academy in 2017, at the same time taking up the chair of governors role at Woodstock. I have been working in education since 2013, firstly as a PE teacher, then a head of year, before moving onto the senior team.  I had worked in Primary schools previous to this, in a sports coach capacity.  I feel that it is an honour to be part of a dedicated school in a governor position, which truly cares about every pupil, a school blessed with such a diverse community and relish the opportunity that this role presents to make a real difference.
